Amazon is asking Alexa developers for ideas on how to improve the voice assistant’s developer toolkit. The new UserVoice Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) provides a forum for developers to suggest and vote on ideas for new developer tools and other features for Alexa and even track Amazon’s implementation of the most popular ideas.

UserVoice gives Amazon a way to gather and organize future developer ideas, with the developer community refining and improving concepts before Amazon even deploys them. Ideas should focus on features that can help developers create new experiences, improve their business, or streamline app development to attract more developers. Amazon cited recent additions like the Alexa Skills Kit, the Alexa Routines Kit, and the Skills Developer Acceleration Program unveiled at Alexa Live this year as examples of the kind of features they hope to implement. Developers can post their ideas, vote for the ones they like, and comment on any other developer suggestions. The votes and comments will guide Amazon in deciding which ideas to pursue and their relative priority. Amazon will tag UserVoice Ideas it chooses to track so developers know when it’s available. The program continues Amazon’s efforts to strengthen and expand the Alexa app developer community, which stands out even more after Google began rolling back Google Conversational Actions in favor of Android-based apps.
“How can we come up with ideas for new features and new programs? From developers like you around the world. Over the years, our most impactful features and programs have come directly from ideas given by skill creators and device makers,” Amazon explained in a blog post. “You often hear the words ‘We want to hear from you.’ following your suggestions. Let them come!”
