Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward is teasing something

Following the deletion of his images on social media, it looks like Infinity Ward is starting to tease his next entry in the Call of Duty series.

Call of Duty fans have heard plenty of rumors about the 2022 title, with many excited for the follow-up to the 2019 reboot of modern warfare. Now Infinity Ward has apparently added fuel to the fire, deleting its social media images to get the attention of Call of Duty Fans.

If players head to the official Infinity Ward Twitter account, they will find that the developer‘s profile picture and banner image have been removed. Both have been replaced with almost entirely black images, although a few small brown spots can be found on each. Turns out there seems to be a hidden image if fans light up their phone or computer screen. In the top center of the image, Ghost’s mask appears to be visible, confirming that Simon Riley will be working with Captain Price again.

The decision to black out the profile picture and banner image seems like a clear nod to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019. With Infinity Ward “going dark”, presumably a reveal of the next modern warfare the game is imminent.

Not only has Call of Duty 2022 is rumored to have a reveal sooner than Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Vanguardbut a recent leak saw an insider named @RalphsValve report that the first big Call of Duty The 2022 teaser would drop on April 30 – just a week from today. From a marketing perspective, going dark a week before the first official teaser makes sense. As for the full reveal, @RalphsValve claimed it would arrive in early May.

Supposedly named Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (with Roman numerals used to differentiate it from the 2009 game of the same name), the game would focus on Task Force 141 as they battle against drug cartels. Leaks have been all over the place regarding what game modes will feature, with modes inspired by PT, Escape from Tarkovand Rainbow Six Siege all teased. Classic content of the original modern warfare 2 should also appear, along with the recently leaked ACR and Intervention.

With Infinity Ward teasing something major, fans of the Call of Duty the series might get some exciting news very soon. Rumors and leaks have been the only major source of information about Infinity Ward’s next game so far, but it looks like that’s about to change.
