Martha J. Samuels, of Cumberland, dies at 68

Martha J. Samuels, 68, of Cumberland returned home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in Providence, Rhode Island. Born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Sherwood C. and the late Virginia E. (Gallman) Samuels.

Martha graduated from Bartlesville College High School and received a BS from Purdue University. She worked for SAIC and then Epsilon coding and supervising numerous computer programming projects for the management of large databases of satellite, banking and pharmaceutical data systems.

Martha was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church Lincoln, Rhode Island. She loved music and sang in the church choir as well as the Cumberland-Lincoln Community Chorus. Over the years, she has enjoyed the set design of certain Community Chorus performances.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother John S. Samuels. She is survived by her sister, Suzanna J. Clymer (late Robert L.) of Huntsville, Alabama; his brother, Robert W. Samuels (Gail L.) of Luther, Oklahoma; two nieces; a nephew; three great-nieces and three great-nephews. She will also be missed by her two cats, Puka and Pandora.

His funeral will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 55 Woodland Street, Lincoln, Rhode Island, with Pastor Michelle Miela officiating. Interment will follow at Swan Point Cemetery on Blackstone Boulevard in Providence, Rhode Island.

Relatives and friends are welcome to visit Bellows funeral chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, Rhode Island on Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
