KUALA LUMPUR, October 16 – Payment for the first phase of Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN 2.0) in the amount of RM 7 billion will be channeled to the existing 10.6 million eligible beneficiaries in stages from October 26.

The Ministry of Finance, in a statement released today, announced that the BPN 2.0 first phase payment amounting to RM 4.8 billion for the B40 category involves RM 3.7 million which will each receive 1 000 RM.

Payment will be made in two installments of 700 RM at the end of October and 300 RM in January 2021.

The second group, comprising 3.8 million B40, will receive 500 RM in two installments of 350 RM in October 2020 and 150 RM in January 2021.

The third group concerns 1.4 million M40 households who will receive 600 RM in two installments of 400 RM in October 2020 and 200 RM in January 2021.

For the 1.7 million unique M40 groups, they will receive 300 RM which will be paid in two installments, 200 RM in October 2020 and 100 RM in January 2021.

All payments will be made directly to bank accounts registered in the BPN database, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said the new BPN 2.0 app is open from October 15 to November 15, to help those who have never received BPN before, including the new group. vulnerable who are eligible due to changes in their income status affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said that to ensure BPN reaches those who are truly eligible, a review process for new applications will be carried out immediately and for those who are approved, payment will be made in one go in January 2021.

“New BPN 2.0 applicants can refer to the frequently asked questions uploaded on the official BPN portal, for more information or to apply.

“I would like to express my gratitude to all parties involved, especially the Inland Revenue Board and Bank Simpanan Nasional, for allowing the delivery of BPN 2.0 to be implemented smoothly for the convenience of the people.

“I would also advise people to beware of con artists who increasingly dare to take the opportunity to deceive the public who need the help of BPN 2.0. Recipients are advised to refer to official sources and not to provide personal information to unknown third parties, ”he said. – Bernama
